THE WHOLE NZMECCANO WEBSITE IS DOWN

Please note the whole NZ Meccano website went offline in early October and remains down due to an ongoing technical problem with the website administration. This means all external links from the MMG website to the NZ Meccano website are currently not working, although to minimise the disruption many links have been taken down.

An alternative photo gallery is available to us which Bob Thompson has set up on the Flickr website. This can be accessed at https://www.flickr.com/photos/16039040@N05/albums

MMG WEBSITE TEMPORARILY OFFLINE

Due to a technical problem the MMG website was unavailable from 16-19 October when a message saying 'Account Suspended' was displayed in your Internet browser when trying to access any MMG web page. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to members and website visitors for this short period of time. A fix was put in place which should prevent this problem from happening again.

ALTERNATIVE PHOTO GALLERY ON FLICKR

While the photo gallery on the NZMeccano website is down there is an alternative photo gallery available to us which Bob Thompson has set up on the Flickr website and kindly agreed to share with MMG members. This does not show the full historical library of NZ images and is being developed by Bob as a possible future solution if there are ongoing issues with the NZ photo gallery.

There is still no access to the photo gallery on the NZMeccano website, which means you will get a '403 FORBIDDEN ERROR' when any NZ gallery hyperlink is clicked. All we know is the NZ webmaster is working on a fix for this problem. Further information will be posted here on the News page when there is any update or when it is fixed. You may still access other sections of the NZMeccano website at https://www.nzmeccano.com it is only the Gallery section which cannot be accessed.

EXTRA MMG EVENT AT STATFOLD COUNTRY PARK

MMG has been invited by Statfold Country Park (near Tamworth) to hold an Exhibition there on 10-11 May 2025 to coincide with an important Steam Rally they're holding that weekend. Our Exhibition Organiser John Sharp and our Secretary Robert Davey are in contact with the organisers of this event and they, and our Chairman George Illingworth, see it as a unique opportunity to showcase the MMG and the Meccano hobby to the VERY substantial crowds who visit the Statfold Country Park during the Spring.

More details are to follow once the arrangements have been finalised, some further details will be announced at our meeting in Baginton on 22nd March 2025 .

LATEST MMG BULLETIN GOES TO PRESS

Our new interim Bulletin editor Bob Thompson has just finalised the December 2024 Bulletin No.93 which will be mailed out to members very soon, so keep an eye out for it arriving through your letterbox in the run up to Christmas.
Robert Davey will take over as Bulletin editor in 2025, indeed Bob and Robert have done a great joint effort at very short notice on this the first Bulletin since the sad passing of our secretary Roger Marriott in October 2024.
Also a big thank you to John Sharp, who has once again produced an excellent in-depth model report, so all members who turned up to the October meeting at Baginton with their model(s) should get a mention in the report.

SAD NEWS ABOUT OUR MMG SECRETARY

It is with great sadness that we have to inform users of the death of our very able and much missed Secretary Roger Marriott on Monday 21st October 2024. Roger had been ill for some time but typically carried on as usual in his role of Secretary and Bulletin Editor. Roger joined the MMG in 1981 and became Secretary in 2009. We send our deepest condolences to Annella. Annella has asked that all who knew Roger join with her to celebrate Roger’s life on Thursday 14 November at 2:00pm at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Maulden, Bedfordshire. The address is Church Road, Maulden MK45 2AU
